7 Chakras : What are they ?

Chakras Beginners Spirituality Awakening

Chakras : Let’s start from the beginning

Having its roots in Sanskrit, an ancient language in Hinduism, Chakras are centers of energy that we find throughout our bodies. Translated, the word Chakra literally means «wheel» because it acts as a vortex, a disk of spinning energy where matter and consciousness meet. At the core of each one of us, spin several chakras but we’ll start with the main seven ones.

The main seven chakras are aligned along the spine starting from the base up to the crown of the head. And of course, the body being so beautifully created, you guessed that Chakras are not located just randomly. Of course not. In reality, each one of them corresponds to a massive nerve center within the body and represents an essential aspect of consciousness in our lives. Additionally each chakra carries its own vibrational frequency which is translated into a specific colour and has its specific function. As seven spinning wheels, the chakras form a mythical rainbow bridge at the core of our beings connecting body and spirit, mind and matter, past and future.

The Chakra system

The journey through the seven Chakras takes us from the base of our spine, home to the first chakra, foundation of our entire system, the building block on which all the other chakras rest. We will then journey up along the spine until we reach the thousand-petaled lotus blooming at the top of our crown. Together, the seven main Chakras form a vertical column in our bodies called subhuman.

This was just an introduction to the Chakra system

So here we have them. The seven beautiful spinning wheels of life energy located within our bodies. Later on we will see more in details what each chakra represents. For example we will see that Chakras can be in any stage between opened to closed, excessive or deficient. And since chakras are bridges between the physical and energetically aspects of our lives, if one or several of our chakras are blocked, we may experience physical and emotional manifestations as a result of this energetic blockage. These manifestations can take any form from physical illness to psychological struggles. If a chakra is blocked in a closed state, then it is unable to generate or receive energy on that particular plane. On the contrary, when a chakra is blocked in a state of excessive openness then it will tend to channel all the energies through that particular place. In other words, a closed chakra is chronic avoidance of certain energies, while an excessive open chakra would be chronic fixation. In those cases, the chakras need healing by uncovering and removing whatever is blocking them.

Stay tuned !

The Chakras are a complex yet so beautiful system to explore and work with. Over the next couple of weeks we will go deeper in our understanding of these ever spinning wheels of life energy.
